For those homeless on World Refugee Day
On World Refugee Day, spare a moment for those who won’t be returning to their homes tonight.
Worldwide, there are 25.9 million people who have been forced from their homes because of conflict or persecution and who are receiving protection from the UN Refugee Agency. There are a further 38.3 million people displaced by climate-related hazards like floods and storms, with no legal recognition or protection. These people have lost more than the bricks and mortar. In many cases they have also lost their possessions, their source of income and employment, and are left isolated from their family and friends.
